There's no cure for it, you know, even with modern medicine. But most people don't even think to worry. They don't have to, unless they happen to live somewhere very rural and isolated, with poor infrastructure and a bias against technology.
This place had a real problem, as anyone might expect out of 'the Valley of the Wolves.' An animal bite, and then a funeral. At the time it seemed like an obvious culprit. None of us knew any better.
